Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club Executive Director Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa crowned Billesdon Brook for winning the annual Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes, held at Newmarket Racecourses in the UK.

The Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes saw the participation of high-level, first-class horses from different stables around the world. It was a hotly contested event, with the victory taken by Billesdon Brook, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Sean Levey.

Following the race, Shaikh Salman bin Rashid presented the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes to Pall Mall partners & Mrs R J McCreey, and also honoured the trainer and the jockey.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid stressed the importance of the positive gains achieved by organising such annual races under the patronage and contribution of the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially at Newmarket, which is considered as the largest and most prestigious racetrack in the world.

Embodied by the distinctive communication and historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Newmarket, Bahrain has been a keen sponsor of two annual races under its name since 1978.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid pointed out that the establishment of these races represents an opportunity to highlight the ongoing efforts to develop horseracing in Bahrain to the highest levels, especially with the vision, future plans and aspirations to hold international races at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club.

Shaikh Salman bin Rashid thanked the management of Newmarket for their continuous cooperation and coordination in organising the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes and for contributing to its success each year.
